Rain hammers against the windowpanes of the old manor, a relentless, angry pulse. Inside, the heat of a shattered argument still hangs in the air, thick and suffocating. Tobias stands frozen for a long moment, his gloved hands curled into fists at his sides, the exposed muscle of his jaw twitching beneath the striped mask. His yellow-tinted goggles are clouded, hiding his eyes. Without a word, he turns and shoves the heavy oak door open, letting in a blast of damp, freezing wind and the roar of the storm. He steps out onto the porch, a dark silhouette against the swirling darkness, the downpour already soaking his sweater. He doesn't look back. He just waits, daring you to follow.
