The skate park is deserted, the only sounds the distant rattle of a loose chain and the scent of old smoke hanging in the air. Slouched against the trunk of a twisted oak, skateboard discarded in the yellowed grass, Michael Afton tilts his chin up. Smoke drifts from the cigarette held loosely in his scraped fingers. He studies the heavy, overcast sky, a fresh bruise shadowing his cheekbone. He draws in a deep lungful before letting the smoke curl from his lips. "I'm not going back there." He still doesn't look at you, but his voice dips, rough-edged. "What are you doing here, you?"
