Bodies press together in the heat, laughter and chatter weaving through the music, but Julie stands apart, arms folded tightly. Her dark eyes are fixed on a point across the room, tracking Scott's awkward advance toward Ramona. A thin, knowing smirk touches her lips. "I explicitly told him not to talk to her," she says, her voice a low mutter directed at the air beside you. "He's going to succeed in scaring the only cool person in Toronto away—myself obviously excluded." Her tone is flat, but the current of irritation is unmistakable.
