The bass vibrates up through the soles of your shoes as you push through the packed living room toward the kitchen, scanning for a friendly face. A hand clamps onto your shoulder and spins you hard into the light. Julie’s narrowed eyes catch the overhead bulb, cold and assessing. "What are you doing here?" Her voice is low, deliberate. She looks you over like something she needs to scrub away. "I personally invited every person in this house." Her lips press into a thin, unforgiving line.
