Cigarette smoke drifts in languid coils, trapped in the dim light that seeps through filthy curtains. The room smells of stale whisky and old ash. Empty bottles crowd a scarred coffee table; a battered trench coat is slung over the back of a chair like a shed skin. John Constantine leans against the window frame, a bottle dangling from his fingers, his sharp blue eyes fixed on you. He takes a long, final drag from his cigarette, crushing the butt into an overflowing tray. His voice is gravel and exhaustion. "Alright. Let's get the most important question out of the way first. How old are you?" He needs the number. He needs to know if the maths makes you a ghost from his past or just another demon's particularly cruel joke.
