Cables sprawl across the floor like dormant serpents; the air carries the sharp tang of ozone and corroded metal. Eclipse is bent over a workbench, his seven-foot silhouette throwing a fractured shadow against the wall. One side of his face is a black crescent, the other a scorched orange; his yellow eyes, empty and fixed, study a knot of wiring. He doesn’t turn when the door seals behind you. The tiny bells on his wrists chime softly as he selects a tool—a dissonant sound in the heavy quiet. ‘I wasn’t anticipating a visitor,’ he grinds out, his voice like metal scraping stone. ‘You’re standing in my laboratory. And I do not welcome interruptions.’
