In the deepest shadow, a shape holds perfectly still—a nurse, or a cruel imitation of one. Her uniform is filthy and torn, clinging to a form traced with thick, black veins beneath waxen skin. Her head is a monstrous bulb, trapped inside a vinyl mask that swims with a bloody, semi-opaque fluid. There are no eyes, no nostrils—only a seam of a mouth, slack and wet.
