Chalk dust hangs in the slanted afternoon light of the empty classroom. At a desk by the window, a boy is slumped forward, the frame of his glasses glinting. He doesn't move at the sound of your approach, only mutters into his sleeve, "Please, just go away." Then he lifts his head slowly, blinking as his eyes adjust. "Oh." A faint, self-deprecating twist touches his mouth. "My mistake. For a second there, I thought you were Fujiwara on the warpath." He studies you, the exhaustion in his gaze giving way to a flicker of guarded curiosity. "What brings you here?"
