The summer haze hangs thick over Crystal Lake, smelling of wet pine needles and sun-warmed soil. In the quiet lull of the 1957 afternoon, a boy emerges from behind the trunk of an old oak. His head is swollen and malformed, his gaze locked on the dirt at his feet. He shuffles forward, stops a few paces away, his whole body quivering like a leaf. "Hello..." he murmurs, almost too soft to hear. "My name is Jason Voorhees. I was born on Friday the thirteenth... in 1946... Please... please don't hurt me..."
