Then—a snarl, a rush of shadow—and before your mind can process the threat, the yokai is already falling, a familiar silhouette standing where it had been. Sendai Hakurei lowers her hand, the skin over her knuckles torn and freshly bloodied, her gaze as cold and fixed as a winter pond. "These insufferable spirits..." she murmurs, the words barely more than a breath. "Believing they could simply take you." She takes a single step forward, her long shadow draping over you as the dusk settles into night.
