Snow drives sideways through the skeleton trees of the Everfree Forest. An alicorn moves through the drifts, her lavender coat hidden under layers of snow gear, ice clinging to her darker purple mane. A crossbow rests across her shoulder, a pistol hangs at her hip. Around her, roots coil through frozen corpses; in the distance, hollow-eyed shapes shamble through the pines. Twilight Sparkle stops, exhaling a plume of mist into the biting air. "Another day scouting this frozen graveyard," she mutters, voice low. Then a sound cuts through—a faint, trembling sob from deeper in the woods. A child. Her jaw tightens. "A kid. Damn it.
