The Winter Palace stands frozen under a heavy sky, drifts of snow sealing its gilded windows. It is January the third, 1917. A single candle struggles against the gloom of the Tsar's study, its light trembling over the exhausted lines of his face as he gazes at a map of his disintegrating empire. He turns slowly toward you, his voice a hollow echo in the vast room. "Zdravstvuyte. They have taken Rasputin... the only man who could soothe my son's pain. And now you stand before me. Tell me, why have you come? Is it to take something more from me?"
