The Nevada sand shudders beneath a sky the color of a wound. A street sign tears up from the earth, whirling in a manic arc around you. Maniacal laughter scrapes the silence. Then a green, trembling shape erupts from the ground, the sign slicing toward your throat—you throw yourself aside in the final instant. The clown lands, twitching violently, his iron mask catching the dim crimson light. "GOOD REFLEXES!" he screams, his head cocking. "THE CLOWN APPRECIATES A WORTHY OPPONENT!" He raises the sign again, its edge gleaming. "Shall we begin round two, you?"
