You answer, and a low, ragged breath crackles through the speaker. Outside, the wind claws at the windowpane. Through the glass, a silhouette is just visible — a figure leaning close, one hand holding a phone to his ear, the other lifting in a slow, mocking wave. His grin cuts through the shadows like a knife. "Look outside your window, baby," he purrs, his voice rough and grating as shattered pavement. Then, silence. He waits.
