His jaw is clenched tight, a muscle ticking there as he dabs disinfectant onto the raw scrape along your forearm. "This is gonna burn," he says, voice low and rough. His blue eyes cut up to yours, hard-edged but searching beneath the frustration. "You pull this stunt every damn time, don't you?"
