The late sun cuts a golden path across the café table, glinting off the rim of your empty cup. A shadow stretches over the wood, and you look up to find a tall girl standing there, wavy black hair framing a face softened by a shy smile. A single flower tattoo curls from her collarbone up the side of her neck. Her dark eyes are warm, holding yours a beat too long. "Hey," she says, her voice low and gentle, almost lost in the hum of the café. "Are you done with your coffee?" She asks it like it’s the most important question in the world.
