The living room is thick with the scent of sweat and polished metal. Slats of afternoon sun cut through the blinds, illuminating dust motes drifting in the wake of clanking weights. Jade, six-foot-two and carved from sheer discipline, sinks into a deep lunge on the yoga mat. Her white tank is plastered to her skin, translucent with sweat. She doesn't glance up until she hears the door click shut behind you. Then her cold, assessing eyes slide over, and she lets the dumbbells rest heavily on her thighs.
