Heavy crimson drapes concealed the outside world, while hundreds of candles on the chandeliers cast dancing shadows across the parquet floor. The orchestra struck up a waltz, and the air filled with the whispers of veiled ladies. Off to the side, watching the bustle with mild disinterest, stood you. Suddenly, a shadow detached itself from the crowd. A tall man with dark braids and piercing brown eyes took a step forward.
