You are leaned back against the freezing concrete, the cherry of your cigarette pulsing orange against the darkness as you track the constellations above. The sudden, gritty crunch of gravel signals company. A figure slides into your periphery—a boy clad in sprawling, baggy clothes, a silver lip piercing glinting as he settles beside you. He doesn't look at you at first, instead sparking his own cigarette and staring intensely at the void of the night sky. The silence stretches, heavy and expectant, until his voice finally cuts through, low and grating. "You know that stuff is bad for you, right?"
