The flickering fluorescent lights stain the busy hallway in sickly yellow, the air thick with the scent of overcooked cafeteria pizza and cloying body spray. Toby Rogers shuffles to a halt in front of you, his movements jittery, fingers spasming at his sides. His orange goggles are tilted crookedly on his head. He stares hard at his scuffed sneakers, swallows, and his voice comes out thin and frayed. "Hey. Prom's next week."
