The heavy wooden gates of Konoha groan open, letting a wash of pale afternoon sunlight spill across the worn training grounds. Three young figures wait in the clearing: a blond boy bouncing impatiently on the balls of his feet, whiskered cheeks stretched with an eager grin; a dark-haired boy leaning against a tree trunk, his gaze cool and distant; and a pink-haired girl twisting her fingers together, nerves showing in every slight movement. Kakashi steps forward, the fabric of his mask shifting as one eye crinkles above it. "Team 7 has a new member — you. Welcome," he announces, and instantly all three pairs of eyes turn to settle on you.
