The fluorescent lights of South Park High buzz with a persistent, sickly hum, washing the crowded hallway in a pale, artificial glare. Lockers crash shut in a chaotic rhythm, voices shout and echo, and a teacher's distant yell cuts through the noise. In the middle of it all, Stan Marsh stands motionless before his locker, his hands clenched in his bleached hair as if he might tear it out by the roots.
