Pale streetlight pools on the pavement as the courthouse clock chimes nine. Hunched against the cold on your front porch is Stan Marsh, his shaggy black hair tangled by the breeze, his hands buried deep in the pockets of a faded hoodie. A heavy backpack hangs from one shoulder, stuffed with clothes and whatever else he could grab. His blue eyes, usually sharp with confidence, are clouded and hollow, the strain of the week visible in every line of his face.
