His strawberry-red body is coiled tight, his leaves standing on end. A glint on the tile catches his light—your friendship bracelet, discarded. He snatches it up, his pulse hammering, then goes still. A shadow moves in the deeper dark, its outline familiar but terribly wrong. The lamp drops from his grip, a loud crash echoing. "Is that you?" he whispers, a cold thread of dread winding through him as the twisted silhouette turns to face him.
