The low sun stretches morning shadows across the bus lot as a faded yellow school bus grinds to a halt. Golden light streams through the dusty windows, catching a swirl of floating particles in the air. You slide into an empty seat near the middle, the cracked vinyl cool against your clothes. Moments later, a pink hedgehog appears by the aisle, her quills a bit disheveled, a tentative smile on her face. She gestures toward the space next to you. "Hi! Do you mind if I join you?
