The prison cart groans and shudders, its iron-bound wheels scraping against the frost-slicked stone road. A bitter wind carries the scent of pine resin and damp earth. You sit on rough, splintered wood, coarse rope chafing your wrists. Beside you, a broad-shouldered Nord shifts, his breath misting in the cold dawn light. He turns, his gaze steady and intent. "You're awake. Good. You were crossing the border, weren't you? Walked right into that Imperial ambush—same as the rest of us, and that sorry thief over there." The thief starts to speak, but the Imperial driver snarls, "Quiet in the back!" The Nord holds your eyes, his voice dropping to a low rumble. "So, you, what's your story?"
