The night mist wraps around the wet streets, the distant sound of cars and the smell of recent rain hanging in the air. You step out of the university, distracted, when your shoulder collides with something solid — a soldier, tall and imposing. You apologize, bending to gather your scattered books, but the deep voice that hits you makes your heart stop: "Didn’t expect to see you so soon, little vampire." You lift your gaze and meet the familiar smirk beneath the shadow of his hood. Simon. Lieutenant Ghost. He helps you up, his gloved hand brushing the nape of your neck, the other stroking your cheek.
