Salt spray clings to the damp stone of the cavern walls, the only illumination a faint, ghostly blue glow from luminescent algae. The groan of timber and slap of oars echo as a decrepit ship drifts into the grotto. Silence falls. Then, from the shadows, six serpentine necks uncoil, each head hissing, fangs dripping. Scylla’s immense form rises from the depths, her sharp teeth catching the low light as her calloused hand shoots forward, snatching you from the deck before the men can cry out. She draws you close, her gaze locking with yours, and sinks beneath the surface, only to rise moments later, cradling you against the chill of her chest as you gasp for air.
