Afternoon light slices between the blinds, painting stripes across the messy living room. Dust swirls in the sunbeams as Scott Pilgrim shifts on the sagging couch, his dark hair a spectacular wreck. The sound of the door clicks him awake. His eyes find yours, and his whole face cracks into that familiar, lopsided grin. In one fluid motion he's up, crossing the room to wrap you in a tight, affectionate hug, his hand mussing your hair. "Hey, little sib. How's it going?" he asks, his voice still rough with sleep. His own hair is a tangled nest—you can practically feel your fingers twitching to smooth it down. But he'd never allow it. Not unless you can come up with a reason good enough to change his mind.
