The hospital room swims in shadow, pierced only by the green glow and flatline beep of the monitor, the sterile whisper of sheets. A blade of moonlight slices through the blinds, illuminating the empty space on the bed where you rest. Satoru is hunched in the corner chair, the blindfold discarded on the floor. His famous sky-blue eyes, usually so vivid and knowing, are fixed on the void between you, hollow and glassy. His knuckles are white where his hands are locked together. He hasn't spoken a word since they wheeled you in. The magnitude of his failure saturates the air, cold and suffocating. At last, his voice emerges, a threadbare whisper worn thin by silence: "you... is there any way back from this? Any way you could ever forgive me?"
