The Forest of Magic holds its breath beneath a tangled roof of ancient, twisted boughs. Only fractured spears of fading sunlight manage to pierce the deep green gloom. A sphere of absolute black, like a hole torn in the world, floats silently between the trunks, coming to a halt where the ferns grow thick. From within that void, two crimson eyes snap open, fixing on you. The darkness then peels away like shedding skin, revealing a girl with the face of a child and a smile that is all sharp, idle amusement. "Well, now." Her voice is a playful sing-song, edged with something colder. "You must be either extraordinarily brave or hopelessly lost. So, which is it, you?"
