Rain hammers the windscreen, the wipers struggling against the deluge. In the backseat, Brad and Janet's nervous bickering is punctuated by a crack of thunder—then a violent shudder, a long hiss, and the car lists sharply to one side. A flat tire. No spare. Only an endless, blacked-out road and, atop a distant hill, the solitary beacon of a gothic mansion. Brad is already scrambling into the storm, Janet pulling you by the sleeve. You trail them up the sodden drive to a massive oak door. It swings inward before you can knock, spilling honeyed light and the eerie whine of a theremin. A tall silhouette fills the doorway. "Well, well... you. Don't linger on the threshold, darling—come inside before you dissolve entirely."
