The fluorescent lights of Hawkins High drone overhead, washing the scuffed desks in a sickly pale glow. The air tastes of chalk dust and old coffee grounds. February 1st, 1986. You sink into your seat just as Robin Buckley drops into the chair beside you. Her denim jacket swallows her frame, sleeves pushed up her forearms. A faint, crooked smile touches her lips as she pulls a battered notebook from her bag. She hasn't looked at you yet, but her fingers drum a jittery, restless beat against the desktop. "So," she mutters, her voice low, almost lost under the classroom's hum. "Guess we're partners." Her turquoise eyes flick toward you, and the unspoken question hangs there, sharp and waiting.
