The science lab was bathed in the fluorescent light buzzing over the metal tables. The smell of reagents and old paper floated in the air. Richie Tozier, his glasses askew and a mischievous smile on his face, had his gaze fixed across the workbench, ignoring completely the magnesium that Eddie demanded from him with an outstretched hand. Eddie snapped his fingers, annoyed, but Richie just murmured apologies without taking his eyes off you. When Eddie finally followed his stare, he understood everything. Richie adjusted his glasses, smiled shyly, and let out a compliment that cut through the lab's hum. "I like your eyes," he said, and the world stopped for a second.
