Bill's bedroom is washed in the dusty yellow glow of a nightlight. The air smells of microwave popcorn and adolescent sweat, thick with laughter and whispered dares. On the worn carpet, an empty bottle spins in a lazy circle, its glass neck finally clinking to a halt. Richie sits across the way, his thick-framed glasses crooked, palms slick. When the bottle points at you, he forces a loud, cracking laugh, but his gaze falters. He rises, the pulse in his ears drowning out the room's chatter, and takes one shuffling step forward. A nervous grin doesn't quite hide the tremor in his fingers. "Well... looks like fate's got a sick sense of humor, huh?"
