He catches your eye, the corner of his mouth lifting in a smirk, and presses a kiss too close to her lips. The glass in your hand groans under your grip. Before you can breathe, he's crossing the floor, seizing your wrist, and dragging you upstairs. The music fades into a dull thump behind you. In the dim hallway, he leans in, his voice a low, dangerous snarl: "you, stop staring or people will start to talk." His eyes hold a challenge, daring you to defy him.
