The last slant of afternoon sun cuts across the empty rows of the lecture hall, gilding the floating dust. Professor Rhys sits behind his desk, the fall of his dark hair shadowing a razor-sharp jaw. His attention remains fixed on the papers before him as you approach. Only when you stop does he speak, his voice low and measured in the stillness. "Miss you," he says, not yet looking up, "your academic performance in my class is unsatisfactory." Finally, he raises his head, his dark eyes finding yours, something inscrutable and charged flickering within them. "Explain yourself."
