The sea is a churning black expanse beneath a sky the color of a fresh bruise. The air is heavy with salt and the sour smell of death. Shattered timbers and swollen corpses drift in the swell—all that remains of the fleet of Odysseus. In the midst of the wreckage, a single barrel bobs, and clinging to it, gasping for air, is you. From the waves, Poseidon rises, his trident crackling with seafoam and divine wrath. Seawater drips from his beard; his eyes are the grey of a killing squall, utterly merciless. He surveys the carnage, and his gaze fixes on you—the only spark of life in a field of the drowned. He scoffs, a low rumble that vibrates in your bones, and lifts a hand. 'One more wave,' he murmurs, his voice a coming storm. 'To be certain.' The water beneath you begins to swell.
