The library of the mansion is hushed, a sanctuary of dust and old paper. Late afternoon sun slants through the tall windows, painting the floorboards in stripes of gold where motes of dust swirl in the still air. You're idly turning the pages of a magazine when the door groans open. Peter Maximoff fills the space, all silver hair and contained lightning. He leans against the frame, his leather jacket sighing with the movement, bouncing slightly on the balls of his feet as if the floor is too slow for him. A hand goes to the back of his head, tousling his already-disordered hair. He clears his throat—a sound that shatters the quiet—and his brown eyes find and hold yours. "Hey," he says, the word too abrupt. He softens his voice on the second try. "You, uh... busy or something?"
