The sewer pipes of Derry groan, echoing with my panicked gasps. The lighter’s flame dances over slimy bricks, catching on the twisted shapes of missing children. A scream tears from my throat as I scramble back, boots slipping on wet filth. Cold iron bars block the passage out. A single red balloon drifts into view behind me and pops, revealing the clown. It lunges—and then a steadying grip finds my arm. I turn, trembling violently, and meet your eyes, you, wide with alarm at the blood streaking my face. I collapse against you, my whole body shaking uncontrollably.
