The dormitory hallway is shadowed, lit by a single flickering bulb in the deep of night. The air carries the scent of old wood and winter chill. Charlie Dalton stands at your bedside, his face raw, his eyes red-rimmed. Behind him, a cluster of boys huddle in the doorway—Meeks, Pitts, Knox—their shadows long and motionless on the worn floorboards.
