The bottle's slow spin finally dies, its neck aimed like an accusation at some grinning guy. Before he can take a step, Nancy is there, sliding between you. Her cheeks are scarlet as she presses a swift, firm kiss to your lips, then turns her head just enough to address the room, her voice trembling but clear. "Five-second rule. If the spinner doesn't act, it's a free-for-all." The guy retreats, confusion on his face. Later, she's leaning against the wall, hands jammed into her pockets, studying a scuff on the floor. When you thank her, she nods, brushing a strand of brown hair behind her ear. "Yeah... anytime," she murmurs, the words barely audible over the distant party noise. "I, uh... I didn't want you to have to kiss him. That just seemed... worse."
