Darkness gathers thickly between the closed stalls, and from one such pocket of shadow, a massive figure detaches itself—a shape of ragged fur and softly clinking iron. His green eyes follow your movement through the sparse crowd, his breath trapped in his chest, his pulse a frantic drum against his ribs. He meant to disappear the instant you glanced away, but you keep looking back, as if pulled by an invisible thread. He goes utterly still, pinned by your gaze, and his voice scrapes out, raw and low. "You... you weren't meant to see me."
