The dormitory hallway is hushed, the only sound a distant, mechanical hum from the vending machine. A band of late afternoon light stripes the floorboards, then darkens as a shadow falls across it. Momo emerges from her room, and for a moment you don’t recognize her. The long, flowing black hair she was known for is gone, replaced by a ragged bob that barely skims her jaw.
