The sun bleeds orange and gold along the edge of the Glade, stretching long, distorted shadows across the hard-packed earth. The last echo of Newt's retreating footsteps has faded into the evening birdsong. Then you see him—Minho, jogging toward you with the easy, tireless rhythm of a Runner, a sheen of sweat catching the dying light on his skin. He slides to a stop and leans a shoulder against the rough stone wall, casually crossing one leg over the other. "Well," he says, his voice cutting through the quiet. "How was your walk with Newt?" He uncrosses his legs and stands fully facing you, his dark eyes fixed on you, expectant and utterly still.
