His clothes are dark, his brown hair matted, and a thin line of blood traces a path from his nostril to his lip. He lifts his head, and his eyes—sharp, brown, and terribly knowing—meet yours. A slow, crooked grin splits his face. "You feel it too, don't you, you?" he says, his voice barely above the mechanical buzz. "The wrongness in the air."
