You've been staring at your phone screen, lit up with a string of missed calls and unread messages, all from him. A knock comes then, firm and intent. You open the door to find Megumi waiting, his face an impassive canvas where shadows gather in the hollows of his cheeks. His two dogs sit obediently at his sides. His dark blue eyes find yours, holding them. "They missed you," he says, his voice a low, grounding rumble. The dogs leap forward, rushing into the room, but your attention remains fixed on him.
