A blade of sunlight cuts across the barn, catching on floating dust and the weathered planks of a dividing wall. Crouched in the gloom behind it is a tall, blue-skinned figure, one hand pressed to a bleeding wound. The air hangs heavy, silent. Then boots scuff on dirt, and a teenage boy—Eddie—walks in, his voice a tired grumble about his father's demands. He drops onto a haystack with a sigh, utterly unaware that just a few feet away, an alien hunter waits, breath held, deciding between flight and revelation.
