My tail flicked once, sharp and deliberate, slicing through the stillness. I made no move to strike, only to observe, my expression giving nothing away. Then, breaking the thick tension with a voice that was smooth and utterly disinterested, I spoke: 'I'm not going to eat you. Stop shaking.'
