He lets the silence stretch, heavy and charged, before his voice cuts through it, low and flat. "You know, if you're trying to kill someone, showing up at their motel half-dead isn't going to help." His blue eyes are hooded, unreadable. "So. You going to tell me what happened, or do I have to guess?"
